• Milit-Beg: He began military service in 1812 as an officer in Woolfork's Battalion under Gen. Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812.⁴
• Residence: He lived in 1812 on the farm known as the Thomas Holman place, 3 mi. from Double Springs, on the Gainsboro-Sparta Road.⁴
• Milit-End: He ended military service in 1814. He was a sergeant in Captain Abraham Dulaney's Company, Major Woodfolk's 3rd Regiment, promoted to 3rd lieutenant, October 1, 1814; to 2nd lieutenant, December 3, 1814.⁷
• Residence: He and Margaret Cox lived in 1840 in District 12, Jackson County, Tennessee.⁸
• Note: Putnam Co. was established on Feb. 1, 1842 by an act of the state legislature and was named in honor of General Israel Putnam of the Revolutionary War. • Note: She There was a baby born in 1860, supposedly to Maria's aunt Louisa (age 38 at the time). Could this baby have been Maria's and was that the real reason she went to California?³
• Residence: She lived in 1860 in California. She moved there to live with her Uncle and Aunt Samuel Miller and Louisa Cooke Miller.⁴
• Note: According to Lindsey descendant Catherine Swindell Doughty, Daught and her brother John were supporters of the Confederacy but their father Robert Logan Lindsey was for the Union. Daught's brother John is the one who went to meet her in New York before she died.⁵
• Note: Former Tennesseean Sends Funds to Aid South's Poor
  Watson M. Cooke of Cooke, Little & Company, Nashville, is in receipt of a letter from Miss Maria L. Lindsey of Stockton, Calif. (formerly of Putnam Co. Tenn.) containing two drafts amounting to $854 to be distributed among the suffering poor of the South.
  Miss Lindsay (sic) is entitled to and will receive the blessings of many poor widows and orphan children for her kind and timely remembrance of them whilst far from her own native state.^6,7
• Death: She died on 29 June 1868 in New York City, New York, at age 26.^2,4
• Note: She died on the 29th in New York City, sister of John W. LINDSEY of Nashville, a native of Tennessee. She left 8 years ago and went to California to live with her uncle Samuel Miller. She will be buried in Tennessee (this from the Nashville Republican Banner, 3 July, 1868).
  Maria (Daught) was returning from California by ship, around Cape Horn, and contracted an illness aboard ship. She was ill when she arrived in New York City, and died there.⁴

Robert Cooke II¹

• Birth: Robert Cooke II was born on 17 March 1751/52 in St. Mary's Co., Maryland.¹
• Birth: He was born on 28 March 1751/52.²
• Milit-Beg: He began military service in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted at Farquier Co. Virginia. He was in the Battle of Brandywine near Philadelphia, and the Battle of Cowpens, in South Carolina.³
• Marriage: He married Susanna Burch Watson, daughter of James Watson and Mary Greene, on 7 January 1778 in All Saint's Episcopal Church, St. Mary's County, Maryland.⁴
• Residence: Robert Cooke II lived in 1782 in Culpepper County, Virginia.⁵
• Residence: He lived on 10 April 1791 in Greenville District, South Carolina. He moved to the three forks of the Saluda River and lived there 25 years. Another source says that the family farm in South Carolina was in the Greenville District, on the North fork of the Saluda River, about 9 miles above the 3 forks. They lived there till about 1820.^6,7,5
• Residence: He lived in 1816 in Green Bottom, White Co., Tennessee.⁶
• Marriage: He married Sarah G. Harper on 3 February 1825 in White Co., Tennessee.⁸
