I don't know how these folks connect with my ancestors, but I am sure they do, somewhere back there. The founder of Webb City was John C. Webb.
John Cornwall Webb's uncle James Crittenden Webb and father, Elijah Clawson Webb, came to what now is Duenweg, Jasper County, Missouri from Overton County, Tennessee, in 1855, first named Harmony Grove with the family cemetery still carrying that name. John reportedly followed with his family a year later settling north on about 200 acres, acquiring an additional 120 acres, where now Webb City is located.⁵
