• Birth: Edward Thomas Hughes was born on 11 July 1839 in Kentucky.¹
• Occupation: He was a harness maker.¹
• Marriage: He married Sally Jane Still on 1 September 1860 in Logan County, Kentucky.¹
• Note: When William and Elijah were young men, as the story goes, their horses were stolen by Indians. They set out for Indian Territory to find their horses and they never returned. It was thought that they were killed by the Indians. The story isn't true. Elijah died in California in 1945. I don't know about William.¹
• Marriage: He married Emma Robertson on 29 July 1878 in Fulton County, Illinois.^1,2
• Note: He and his wife Emma had 8 children.
• Death: He died on 8 April 1907 in Conway Springs, Kansas, at age 67.¹
