  There are many Vandivers in Lawrence, Giles, Wayne, and Franklin Co. Tennessee in the 1860 census. These counties are on the Tennessee/Alabama line.
  
  In 1850 there are several Vandivers (various spellings) in White Co. Tennessee, districts 6, 8, 13, 15. District 6 also has several Williams families.
  
  Penny's name in the 1880 census looks more like Panina or Panona! Her granddaughter was Francis Penina Henry!
  
  In the 1820 census of White Co. Tennessee are John Vandiver and Arnold Vandiver. Also there was a William Vandiver b. in White Co. in about 1816 (Penny's brother??)
  In the 1830 there is a Sally Vandever.
  
  There is a John Vandiver will with the witnesses being Joseph and Penny Williams. There are four children: James, Elihugh, Rachel and Thomas by his wife Sarah "Sally" Berry - could Penny be a daughter by a first marriage? Perhaps the children listed are younger.
