Arnold Davis Truitt, 85, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. On September 24, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, Arnold was united in marriage to Alma Louise Himes who preceded him in death on April 22, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randy Truitt, four brothers, Walter, Bobby, LaVerne and Max Truitt, and five sisters, Dorothy, Beulah, Lucille, Geraldine and Lillie.
Arnold is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Mary Beth Truitt of Macon, MO, one brother, Hubert Truitt of Kirksville, MO, one sister, Norma Kelly of OR, four grandchildren, Nathan Truitt and wife Sarah of Osceola, IA, Natasha Gaugh and husband Michael of Kirksville, MO, Allyce Childers and husband, Marcus of Columbia, MO, and Megan Truitt of Columbia, MO, four great-grandchildren, Andrew Perry of LaPlata, MO, Parker Truitt of Osceola, IA, Carly Truitt of Osceola, IA, and Lincoln Gaugh of Kirksville, MO, as well a numerous nieces and nephews.
Arnold was a life long resident of Novinger, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving the Korean Service Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After being honorably discharged, Arnold returned home and was a long time cattle farmer and employed twenty years for the Adair County Road & Bridge District. Arnold enjoyed working with his cattle, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Arnold had been a resident of Loch Haven Apartments in Macon, Missouri, since 2009.
Public visitation will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Magruder officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Pratt Cemetery, southwest of Novinger, MO.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Truitt, David Truitt, Nick Truitt, Terry Pinkerton, Eldon Hays, and Andrew Perry and Brent Truitt will be an honorary pallbearer.
